Thursdays are typically my busiest day. I go to bible study at my church and then I go to Dillon's mommy and me class right after. But, I have been tossing around the idea of taking a Wilton Method Cake Decorating class for a long time and apparently I am nuts because I finally signed up for one... and it's on Thursday. Like I didn't already have enough to do, right?
Anyway, I just finished up Course 1 and I loved it - I learned how to make roses, pipped figures and a bunch of different borders. I had a lot of fun and got a chance to do something that I love (not to mention a break from the house). I really recommend the class to anyone who loves making cakes and wants to learn some new skills.
Each week you bring a frosted layer cake and then decorate it while at the class. The first week the class focuses on decorating with stars and the cake you make is a rainbow made of stars. It also happened to be a few days before Jordan's birthday, so the timing couldn't have been more perfect.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGW8QOEyaxQY20dn9U71f6RZ3FEMEvDIMeNdBGOpkhfKRIDRC6vXGBUl8r89aX0dQS55BvVqXI5PLi5P8aNXLnvw6q2S9WFE5O7tKTC4VV-LdVkVRYgsFloReMXcPBVFqBNxzxm8lsJNg/s320/DSC_0330.JPG)
The second class teaches figure making and pipped faces. We also learned how to make some flowers, but the cake for this week was clowns. I so do not like clowns, but I made the cake anyway. You do have the option to make a different cake, but I figured I might as well get the experience and I was the only one who made the "recommended" clown cake.
For the final you make a cake featuring a bouquet of roses. I had a hard time learning the technique, but once I got it down, they came out great and easily.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOF_4uqtgoUO1mc_8t0VIMs_iQjwVOpn5nKT2qt4vR0iX39LSm0IF9FmXV2N-zXr1pd58nJHumSwngaiqc8mUcE7FP1vTNRiOFGYbsPumwfZ8T4fyRCopKv5ehd2TsWdzzsqsUn8t0S1U/s320/DSC_0523.JPG)
