Keepin' Cool On A Hot Weekend

This weekend it was hot! I'm not sure what the temperature was, but it was hot. Dillon got a water table for his birthday and he spent hours playing with it on Saturday. Sunday was spent poolside at Derek and Susan's. I'm so thankful they have a pool!

Great Deal

There were a couple of cookbooks that I have been wanting so I dropped by Borders bookstore to pick them up. And as my luck would have it they didn't have either book in stock. Grrr. As I was perusing the cookbooks I was looking at some of the Sandra Lee books but I didn't want to pay $19.99 for one, so I put it back. I headed over to the children's books to get a book for Dillon and had to cut through the "bargain books" to get there. Sitting on the bargain shelf was Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade cooking 2 for $5.99! It had a bent front cover but other than that it was the same book as the one they were selling for almost twenty dollars - just fourteen dollars cheaper. Who cares if the cover had a little crease in it? So, next time I go to the bookstore, I'm heading straight to the bargain books.

Two Year Check-up

Tuesday we had Dillon's two year check-up. Everything checked out perfect. He tipped the scales at thirty pounds fourteen ounces (eightieth percentile) and was thirty-five inches tall (sixtieth percentile). They also tested him for anemia and that came back fine as well.

While I was talking to his pediatrician, Dillon was quite the chatter box - she was asking me about different foods that he eats and he would chime right in. She was telling me that he could have one glass of juice a day and he chimes in: apple ju, apple ju, apple ju. And I said the word broccoli and he piped in with brockee, brockee. Dr. Aguilar asked him if he likes broccoli and replies, "yeah." Dillon showed her his finger after his blood test and she asked him who poked his finger and he told her that it was Daddy. We all had a good chuckle - especially since daddy wasn't there.

Ryan's Birthday

I'm a bit behind, but last Wednesday was my nephew's twelfth birthday. His request for a cake was an ice cream cake - chocolate with peanut butter ice cream. I've never made an ice cream cake, but said "sure, why not." Ryan is a big Seattle Seahawks fan, so I decided to make him a Seahawks cake. I wish I had a picture of his face when he first saw the cake because it was really neat to see how surprised he was.

One Hundred And Three...

That is what the temperature was today. I can't believe that it was that hot and it's only April! With the weather so hot, we were left with no choice but to head out to the pool. If this is supposed to be spring, I am so dreading summer.

Pirate Party

On Saturday, we had a Pirate themed barbecue to celebrate Dillon's second birthday. It was lots of fun and pretty much stress free! Dillon really enjoyed opening his presents - it's the first time that he has been into it. He was so cute - he even got excited when he opened clothes. The only bummer was that the weather wasn't so great. Friday was beautiful, but Saturday was the exact opposite - it was cold and windy.

Dillon blew out the candles on his first try:

Dillon loved giving kisses to Addison (or as he calls her Addinu):

Birthday Boy

I can't believe that my little guy has turned two! It seems like just yesterday that I was holding him in my arms for the first time. Wow... he has grown since then! Walking and running and talking and talking back. Growing by leaps and bounds and learning new things each and every day. I am so blessed to be his Mommy!

Disneyland

On Sunday we went to Disneyland to celebrate Jordan's birthday. We had so much fun and I loved experiencing it with Dillon. The first ride that we went on was the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. Dillon loved seeing Nemo and all the bubbles! While we were in line for Nemo, he saw the cars on Autopia and told us that he wanted to go on that next. His exact words were: Nannie want vroom-vroom. So that was our next ride. We also took him on Pirates of the Caribbean and he liked it too. I think that his favorite part of the day was the time we spent at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in California Adventures. It's this awesome place where he could just run around and be free. He loved going down the big slide and went over and over and over. I can't wait to take him back!
