Wordless Wednesday: Flower Power

(I can't take credit for the beautiful flowers, only the pictures - the flowers are courtesy of my mother-in-law's garden and her green thumb - I on the other hand have a black thumb)

Happy Daddy Day

A day spent relaxing, celebrating the special men in our lives, listening to Dillon wishing everyone a "happy daddy day," and naturally, barbecuing.

Relay For Life

Today Susan, Tiffany and I participated in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. What an amazing experience it was. The walk is a twenty-four hour walk where you participate on a team and at least one member of your team has to be walking for the entire time. By the time the walk kicked off at nine in the morning it was already blazing hot. I am so thankful that we walked at ten PM. Susan and Tiffany walked in the first lap of the day: the Survivors lap. How awesome it was to see all the survivors out there - young and old. One of the survivors was a nine year old boy.

The highlight of the day was the Luminaria. The track was lined with luminaries that were in memory of those who have lost their battle or in memory of those who have survived and beat this horrible disease. It was awesome to walk the track when it was only lit by candle and moon light.

Fun With Dillon

Here are a couple videos of Dillon talking and singing and just being cute. (Ignore the messy face - he just finished eating black beans with dinner)

Kindergym

For the last two months Dillon and I have been going to a mommy and me class called Kindergym. He has tons of fun singing, clapping, exercising, and playing with the "bobbies" (aka babies). The class starts with free play (where he can play on the slides, teeter-totters and with "big balls") which is followed by singing. After we sing songs we do some exercising and marching activities. Each week there is a skill that they get to learn and practice, like somersaults, walking on the balance beam, rolling down an incline or crawling under and stepping over a stick. Dillon's two favorite things each week are the bubbles and getting stamps on his hands and his belly.

There are about twenty babies and twenty moms and there is utter chaos, but it is totally organized chaos. Dillon absolutely loves going to class and is so excited that he gets to go to "school" just like his cousins. He has really blossomed since we have started going. Talking more, singing, cheering and clapping at things. Our first session ended today and I have already signed us up for the summer classes because he loved it so much.

Happy Birthday To Me?

OK, so it's not anywhere near my birthday, but all day today Dillon has been bringing me assorted toys and saying "appy birday, mommy." He also made me a "appy birday cake" out of blocks. He is such a little sweetie!

Sunny Sunday

Sunday was spent - as usual - at Derek & Susan's after church. Sun, Swimming, and a barbecue - what more could you ask for?

(he kept jumping out of the pictures)

Finger Painting Fun

Tons of Fun!

I decided to get some finger paints for Dillon and yesterday the weather was perfect for some outside fun. I wasn't too sure how he would do with them because he really doesn't like his hands getting dirty (he had to be fed his first birthday cake with a spoon!) But he LOVED it! And I'm not sure what he liked painting more - the paper or his tummy!
