This morning we woke up to snow! We were all so excited because we had hoped more than anything that there would be some snow. We are such dorks – you would have thought that we had never seen snow before. We were jumping around the room at the sight of it!
We had planned that our main form of transportation would be the subway. So, this morning we headed off to the subway station and bought our passes for the week. Our first ride was totally uneventful. We got off the train and headed towards Rockefeller Center to see the tree. As we rounded the corner where the tree was, Susan and I asked simultaneously “is that the tree?” It looks much smaller than it looks on TV – but it is still pretty large.
While at Rockefeller Center we went ice skating. It was really cool skating someplace you see on TV and in movies. There was Christmas music playing and the tree was there… the only thing that would have made it perfect was if my feet weren’t killing me. My feet were hurting beforehand and the skating made it so much worse. I lasted as long as I could because it was fun despite the pain.
Next up was another subway ride (on which someone pulled the emergency brake and we had to sit and wait and wait and wait before they started the train again) and then we went to dinner at Tavern on the Green. The place was so pretty. It was all decorated up for Christmas and all the rooms were different themes. The food was good and it was so plated so nicely. Since it was so late and it’s pouring down rain, we decided to take a shuttle back to the hotel – it was more expensive than the taxi, but so worth it!
